Creamy Chicken Pie
The pie is so tasty, with an infinite number of fillings, it is among the most beloved savory foods by Brazilians, some say that this delicacy cannot be missed at parties.
A versatile dish that can be both a snack and a complete meal, it is always on the family table.
What makes it more attractive is the diversity of flavors it can have, chicken pie with cream cheese, chicken with hearts of palm, ground beef, shrimp, tuna with peas, there are no limits when you think about the possible combinations.

Recipe – Creamy Chicken Pie
INGREDIENTS – FILLING
- 200 g cold butter
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 400 g wheat flour
- 90 ml of milk
- 1 egg yolk to brush the dough
INGREDIENTS – DOUGH
- 1 kg of shredded chicken breast
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves of garlic, chopped into cubes
- 1 cup of cottage cheese
- 2 large tomatoes, diced
- 1 can of sweet corn
- Heart of palm cut into cubes
- Chopped olives to taste
- 1 sachet of tomato sauce
- Chopped green smell
- Salt to taste
- 2 chicken bouillon cubes
- 5 tablespoons of olive oil
- Dry seasonings (Chimichurri, oregano, paprika and black pepper)
- 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
PREPARATION METHOD – Filling
- Place the chicken breast in a pressure cooker with water and salt to cook
- After cooking, shred all the chicken breast and set aside.
- In a separate pan, add the olive oil and fry the onion and then the garlic.
- Add the shredded chicken and let it sauté.
- Now add the chicken broth previously dissolved with a little hot water, and the dry seasonings.
- At this point, add 1 heaping spoonful of wheat flour to help reduce the moisture in the filling and mix well.
- Mix well and add the other ingredients: corn, hearts of palm, olives, tomatoes and finally the cream cheese.
- Sprinkle with parsley and set aside the filling.
PREPARATION METHOD – Dough
- In a bowl, combine the cold butter and wheat flour, mix well until it turns into crumbs.
- Add the yolk, eggs, salt and milk, mix well until you reach a smooth and soft consistency.
- Divide the dough into two parts and place in plastic wrap and let rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- After this time, remove the dough from the refrigerator and start rolling out the dough with the help of a rolling pin.
- One part of the dough will be the bottom of the pie and the other part will be the lid.
- After opening both parts, place the first dough on the bottom of the baking tray and add our filling and the other half of the dough on top.
- Brush the pie with the beaten egg yolk to make it golden and crispy.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.
